field trip season!

october has been great. boots, warm coats, hot lattes and as of yesterday, mitts!
it is also the time for dressing up, pumpkin carving, runny noses, smiling faces, and candy. yesterday, all of these things came together in our first class field trip of the year: the pumpkin patch!

which kid doesn't love picking their own pumpkin?
they all do.
i can tell you, though, they don't love carrying them by hand through the pumpkin patch. and neither did i.

we were so lucky our field trip was on the first sunny day in a week. the coldest day, but the sunniest.
that mud was not as frosted as it looks. lots of muddy shoes and boots. what fun!

hours of time change. days flying. months traveling. many trips. several thousand photos. israel. falling in love. love.

i have traveled to israel so many times. i am always astounded by the beauty. i cannot get enough. it is a drug that takes over my entire body. the people, the smells, the paradox, the history in the cobblestone. the beach, the nightlife, the road-rage. all of it together makes up this magical nation of beautiful people.
here are some highlights from years past, in no particular order.

travels. a sneak peak.

a few years back i spent some time in cape town, south africa. a few years back. wow. it feels like yesterday. there was so much i saw worth sharing. so much beauty, sorrow, honesty. history. my trip felt like a dichotomy. a disunion, even post-apartheid. however, amongst the discord and clamor was a still beauty and tranquility i feel the need to share. here are a few select photos that captured beauty. it was everywhere.

District 6 Museum
District Six was named the Sixth Municipal District of Cape Town in 1867. Originally established as a mixed community of freed slaves, merchants, artisans, labourers and immigrants, District Six was a vibrant centre with close links to the city and the port. By the beginning of the twentieth century, however, the history of removals and marginalisation had begun.

welcome to the first installment of beauty in the world.
there is so much fun that surrounds us in our day to day lives. we often look right through it. it is time to look around and appreciate the beauty and fun all around us.
this blog is going to be a space to share some of my favourite things around me, most often through photos: celebrations, food, children, seasons changing. life.
